This month we will be tasting...

"Firework" red tea
I don't usually reach for red teas, but this one grabbed my attention. Made from the heirloom varietal qunti zhong that is normally made into dragonwell green tea, this is fully oxidized into a red tea. This has all the components i like best in a red tea: floral and fruity, a resounding huigan and strong qi, without the starch heavy sweet potato notes that can be typical. If you remember the gamma ray red, this tea leans in that direction with a fresh, sharp flavor that is perfect for the lunar new year.

"Witches Butter" yuan sheng tuo
This is an artesinal ripe pu'er made in an unusual fashion. Normally when puer is "ripening" the tea piles are turned over to breakup the mycelium clumps and homogenize the tea. sometimes you get little chunks called laochatou or "old tea heads."
This tea wasn't turned and was allowed to form one giant "tea head" in extremely small batches no larger than ten kilos. What you get is like the cavier of ripe puer; rich, creamy, well rounded and deeply satisfying.

2007 laochapo chongshicha
Those that know me know, i love the weird and funky stuff, the more unusual the better. This definitely hits many cross-sections of what i like to find in my gaiwan. Laochapo is "old granny tea" and if made from what we would normally call huang pian, tea made from more mature leaves. This material is essentially Liu Bao, the regional fermented tea of Guanxi, but this one has been fasted on by a local moth and re-excreted back onto the tea. While not explicitly the "bug shit tea" we've featured in the past, this tea has certainly been influenced by the little critters contribution. The aroma begins like stale potted plant dirt and morphs into molasses mellow tobacco. Not for the faint of heart, purely for the adventurous palate.

2013 aged tea flowers brick
We've recently been exploring the world of caffeine free tea, having tried tea stems, seeds, branch shoots and flowers. This is another step on that path. The tea flowers were processed and pressed into a brick and aged, resulting in a light but remarkably fruity and sweet brew, something easy to drink on a hot day or while sitting on a porch rocking chair while watching the sunset.

see you soon~

SATURDAY 2/14 Shared Waters: Oolong Tea Workshop

It is time again for the next gathering in our Shared Waters tea workshop series

This offering marks the first in a multi-part exploration of oolong tea, one of the most expansive and nuanced categories in the world of tea. Resting between green and black tea, oolong holds an extraordinary range of expression shaped by oxidation, roast, terroir, and craft.

Over two and a half hours, we will explore a curated selection of quintessential oolongs, brewed in traditional gong fu style. Participants will be seated in small groups and guided through hands-on brewing, tasting, and discussion, learning to recognize how processing choices translate into aroma, texture, and flavor.
Shared Waters workshops are designed as a communal, slow experience. This is a morning about presence, sensory connection, and shared attention—whether you arrive with partners, friends, or yourSelf

The workshop is limited to 16 participants, creating an intimate and spacious container for learning and sensory exploration.
No prior tea knowledge is required—just curiosity and a willingness to drink deeply.

Doors at 10am, workshop from 10:30am - 1pm | $35
Limited Space! Reserve your seat at:

FRIDAY 2/20 MT.BRAJ & Michael Collins / poets Diogo Dana Raja & Aura / visuals by Studio Lumena & Olio

Join us for an immersive evening of music, poetry, storytelling, and visual art. This special release experience will feature a complete live performance of the entire Unbound album by MT.BRAJ — a cohesive sonic journey blending analog synths, layered vocals, guitar textures, and rhythmic movement. From atmospheric and meditative moments to bright, energized passages that invite release, the set is designed to be experienced as one unfolding arc… with maybe an extra surprise woven in

Michael Collins joins the evening with his own musical offering, adding depth and complementary energy to the night’s soundscape.

Poetry and storytelling by Diogo Dana Raja and Aura will be woven throughout the experience, grounding the evening in reflection, myth, and human connection. Their words expand the emotional dimension of the music and create space for introspection between waves of sound.

Visual artists Studio Lumena and Olio will transform the room with immersive artwork, shaping the environment into a living canvas. The goal is not just a performance, but a shared artistic container — intimate, intentional, and alive.

This is more than an album release. It’s a collaborative arts gathering — a moment to witness, move, and be present together.

Doors at 6:00 PM
Show at 6:30 PM
